Chartres & Versailles palace - Full Day Tour

Departing from your Paris hotel, your expert driver guide will drive you to visit Versailles Palace and Chartres Cathedral. King Louis XIV transformed his father's hunting lodge into the monumental Château de Versailles. Built in 17th century, the castle remains France's most famous palace. Your licensed guide will take you into the Palace to visit the sumptuous Grand Appartements, the King's and Queen's bedchambers, and the remarkable Hall of Mirrors with its 17 great mirrors. After the visit of the Royal Chapel, you will enjoy a walk in the splendid gardens, designed by André le Nôtre, in the formal French style. You may bike on the 250 acres of Versailles splendid gardens, discover gorgeous fountains and ornamental lakes and see Grand and Petit Trianons (small palaces). You may also possibly visit Marie Antoinette's farm.   We suggest lunch in one of the typical Versailles bistrots. After Lunch, you will visit Chartres, hosting the greatest Gothic cathedral in Europe. Among the UNESCO World Heritage List, the Chartres Cathedral is a monument of religious art with many different aspects to discover: architecture that became a model for great Gothic cathedrals, and an exceptional ensemble of stained-glass windows from the 12th and 13th centuries. You will also see the three outstanding sculpted portals. Chartres is a preserved old town, adjacent to the cathedral. You will also appreciate taking a stroll through the historic districts. You'll be charmed by the old half-timbered houses, the mounds and numerous old bridges.
