On the morning you'll visit the Barbizon village. This village is commonly known as the "village of painters", Barbizon is the cradle of French landscape painting. During your visit, you will discover, among others, the Ganna Inn, once the HQ of the Barbizon painting saga, now the Museum of the School of Barbizon, the Théodore Rousseau workshop, or the house-workshop of Jean-François Millet that has kept its genuine outward appearance from the last century. After lunch, we will drive you to Vaux le Vicompte. In 1641 Nicolas Fouquet purchased the manor of Vaux-le-Vicompte and its castle. Twenty years later, he had transformed the estate into a masterpiece whose château and gardens still feature among the most beautiful in France. Surrounded and superbly advised by the architect Louis Le Vau, the painter and decorator Charles Le Brun and the gardener André Le Nôtre, Nicolas Fouquet succeeded in dazzling and inspiring generations. Louis XIV was so impressed that he decided to use the same artists and Vaux-le-Vicompte as a model to build The Château de Versailles. After 350 years of history the Château and the Garden of Vaux-le-Vicompte still ofer a living experience of the Grand Siecle. Many people describe it as their favorite Château in France because it offers a warm and intimate way to experience such historic beauties.
